Please excuse the digression. Here are a few magazine covers or pages featuring Miki Jinbo during the 70's.
There is no link with Obayashi, except the fact that Miki played the memorable Kung-Fu in Hausu (House, 1977).
So if you liked her in the movie, you might be happy seeing these pictures and... of course listening Miki's song from 1976 : Hajimete no waltz.

J'espère que vous excuserez ma digression. Voici quelques apparition de Miki Jimbo dans divers magazines pendant les années 70.
Il n'y a ici aucun lien avec Obayashi, si ce n'est le fait que Miki a incarné la mémorable Kung-Fu dans Hausu (House, 1977).
Si vous l'avez appréciée dans le film, sans doute prendrez-vous plaisir à ces quelques images. Et, bien entendu, vous ne passerez pas outre sa chanson datée de 1976 : Hajimete no Waltz !

Samurai Kids (1993) is a family movie directed by Obayashi and starring Tsutomu Yamazaki, Ittoku Kishibe and Tomoyo Harada.
It looks like a Japanese version of The Indian in a cupboard (Lynne Reid Banks, 1980) but it's in fact adapted from an original Japanese novel written by Masumi Suetani.
Tsutomu Yamazaki who plays the tiny samurai is a famous Japanese actor. You probably remind him as the mysterious trucker in the delightful Tampopo (Juzo Itami, 1985).

Momoe Yamaguchi is a famous japanese idol, singer and actress.
In 1976, the video-clip of her successful song Yokosuka Story is directed by Obayashi, one year before House.

Two years later, Momoe will play the leading role on Obayashi's 3rd film, shot in San Francisco : Furimukeba ai (If She Looks Back, It's Love, 1978).

Obayashi and Kurosawa

That beautiful rare picture looks like a good idea to start my Obayashi completist blog.
You can see, on the right, Nobuhiko Obayashi and Akira Kurosawa.
The photo was taken during the shooting of Dreams.

Obayashi was present to shoot a making-of, released on VHS the 2 November 1990 (150min, produced by Kurosawa Pro and PSC).
